Body Sculpting
Mesotherapy was first designed and implemented in the 1950s by Dr. Michel Pistor (1924-2003) in France where it is practiced today by over 15,000 physicians. Mesotherapy treatments employ the technique of multiple micro injections of pharmaceutical and homeopathic medications, standardized natural plant extracts and vitamins into the mesoderm. Mesotherapy injections target adipose fat cells, rejuvenates collagen, and stimulates new hyaluronic acid support of the mesoderm extracellular matrix (ECM). In France the treatments are used in sports medicine, for the rapid repair of injuries, and in cosmetic medicine, for hair growth and the elimination of cellulite. Its application in the U.S. is mainly for spot fat reduction and the elimination of cellulite. The principle behind its use is that a combination of medications administered in a specific area will have an effect at that site and not affect the system as a whole.
Mesotherapy is an effective treatment for cellulite, which is not always related to being overweight. With mesotherapy, the cellulite area develops increased blood and lymphatic flow, decreased fibrosis of the connective tissue, and reduction of the fat deposits. The net result is a smoothing of the skin and reduction of cellulite.
Although not approved by the FDA, mesotherapy has been shown clinically to be an effective alternative to liposuction. The mesosculpting technique reduces spot fat accumulation. For patients who do not wish to undergo the risks of liposuction, mesosculpting is the answer.
Mesotherapy Injections
Multiple microinjections are given rapidly, each distributing in the meso layer, right below the skin a minute quantity of medication. The injections themselves are not painful and given via an autoinjector.
The procedure will take approximately 30-60 minutes depending on the areas treated. Most people will require from 6-10 sessions to achieve results. Treatments are given every 2 weeks.
Dieting and exercise will definitely help to maintain one's results over the long term, but do not affect treatment results.
Mesotherapy Side Effects
Temporary bruising can occur at the injection sites, along with pain, redness and swelling to the entire treatment area. Allergic reactions may occur to any medication used in the injection solution.
As with any medical procedure, a thorough medical history is reviewed prior to any/all medical procedures at the CA Skin and Body Clinic, and potential risks and benefits are discussed in detail.
