Sclerotherapy treatment with laser is a non-invasive safe and effective method of treating unsightly telangiectasias (small red/purple spider veins) of the face as well as the larger veins on the legs.
In accordance with the principle of selective photothermolysis, these vessels can be heated and collapsed without damaging surrounding, healthy tissue. Depending on the nature of the vessels, either the Nd:YAG or an AFT treatment head can be used to produce the desired effect. For more information on the "HARMONY" laser and AFT technology go to: WWW.ALMALASERS.COM.
Sclerotherapy with injection (hypertonic saline) is a minimally invasive, safe and effective method of treating the same vessels as described above. However, with this method there is a small risk of infection and localized irritation and bleeding associated with the injection (open skin).
Here at the Skin&Body Clinic, Anna utilizes either or both methods for treatment, and rationale/risk/benefit etc...will be discussed during your initial consultation, along with a review of your medical history to determine whether or not you are a candidate for this procedure or require referral to a vascular surgeon.
Who are candidates for treatment?
Persons using blood thinners or afflicted with serious and/or chronic illness generally are not candidates for treatment. Persons with dark suntans or photosensitivity disorders, bleeding disorders, or currently taking photosensitizing medications may also be restricted from candidacy using laser and/or injection technique. Otherwise, anyone with unwanted/unsightly spiderveins are candidates for treatments.
